Clear and frosted plastic business cards Let the design show through.

Transparent and frosted PVC turns the card itself into part of the design. White ink makes colours solid where you need them; foil adds a flash of metal.

Overview

Clear and frosted cards are the most memorable thing you can hand someone across a table. Light passes through the card, so empty space becomes a design element rather than a gap.

Clear PVC is fully transparent — great for bold logos and minimal layouts. Frosted PVC is translucent, softening whatever sits behind it and giving printed colour better contrast. Both can be printed on both sides, which many generic printers don’t offer on clear stock.

Why white ink matters

Standard four-colour print is translucent on clear plastic, so colours look pale and text can disappear. A white ink layer printed under (or instead of) colour keeps logos and small text crisp and readable. Mark white areas as a separate spot layer in your artwork — the artwork guide shows how.

FAQs

Can you print white on clear plastic cards?

Yes. White ink is printed as its own layer, so it can sit under colours to make them opaque or stand alone as a design element.

What’s the difference between clear and frosted?

Clear is fully transparent. Frosted is translucent with a soft, satin feel — it diffuses what’s behind it and makes printed colour easier to read.

Will an NFC chip show through a clear card?

Usually, yes — the antenna and chip can be visible. Frosted stock or a printed panel can hide it. We’ll advise on your proof.
